Part of the ultra-modern shopping complex being built by the Ogun State government at the popular Itoku market in Abeokuta, the state capital has collapsed.

Unconfirmed reports have it that about ten people suspected to be workers in the building under construction are trapped in the rubble.

Men and equipment of the Ogun State Fire Service have been mobilized to commence rescue operations while the State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun is on ground to coordinate the rescue effort.

An eyewitness account said part of the building came down around 8:30 a.m today.
