Men of State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of Lagos State Police Command, Panti-Yaba, have charged the alleged wife Killer, Mr. Lekan Shonde, before a Lagos Chief Magistrate’s Court, Ebute-Metta.
He was charged with murder.
The alleged wife Killer was said to have killed his 37 years old wife, Ronke, by giving her fist blow which led to her death, on May 5, at the residence, 3, Tiamo Street, Egbeda, Lagos.
The offence according to the prosecutor, Inspector Chinalu Uwadione, is contrary to and punishable under section 221 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
The 51 years old defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Upon his plea, the prosecutor urged the court to remand him in prison pending when Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP, will issue an advice on the matter.
Consequently, the presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Oluwayemisi Adelaja, said the offence being a capital in nature, ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody for the first 30 days, pending which the DPP would have issue an advice on the matter.
