Gov’s Wife Admonishes Women on Infant Mortality, Lasser Fever Prevention

The wife of the Governor of Enugu State, Mrs. Monica Ugochi Ugwuanyi has appealed to women in Enugu State to help in no small measures in controlling Children’s pre-mature deaths through effective immunization activities.
She made the appeal while addressing the people of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Tuesday, February 17, 2020 during the flag-off ceremony of the February edition of the National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) in Enugu State, which held at Ibagwa-Aka, Igbo-Eze South Local Government Headquarters.
According to her, women should take very seriously the immunization of their Children, adding that that is the only way the Children could be free from infections and diseases because their bodies’ immunity could be assured.
She prayed the women to always go to hospital with their Children’s immunization cards to enable the health workers know their immunization status,noting that even if the women were leaving their houses, they should keep the cards at the reach of people in their houses, so that if the Children suddenly fall sick, they could be rushed to hospital with their cards for proper treatment.
On preventive measures against Lasser Fever, Mrs. Ugwuanyi advised the women to keep themselves and their environment clean always, urging them to close their foods and cooking utensils tight to avoid invasion by rats.
In his speech, the Chairman, Transition Committee, Igbo-Eze South Local Government Council, Dr. Thaddeus Chijioke Asogwa expressed the unflinching support of the people of Igbo-Eze Eze South Local Government Area for the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, he noted, has provided amenities for the rural populace.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Enugu State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. George Ugwu thanked Mrs. Ugwuanyi specifically for her generous donation of drugs and other items that contributed to the success of the recently concluded Second Round of the 2018 Maternal Newborn and Child Health Week(MNCHW).
Earlier, the wife of the Chirairman, Chief Mrs Ifeoma Asogwa thanked Mrs.Ugwuanyi for the marvellous ways she has “turned the fortunes of the people of Igbo-Eze South around”, and further described Her Excellency as “a good bride to the people of the Local Government Area”.
Present during the ceremony include His Royal Highnesses, Igwes Ikechukwu Oke, Joseph Arua, Christopher Arua, Felix Nnamani, Jerome Ugwu, Dr.Hycinth Eze, Dr.Emma Ukwueze, among others.
Also present were Comrade Peter Andy Nnabuike Omeje and Chief Ejike Amedu, the Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 29 2020 Council elections in the State.v
