Kogi Government Inaugurates Council of Information

ā€¦As SSG Harps on Need for Right Information Dissemination

Kogi State government has inaugurated the State Council of Information with a mandate to disseminate the right information on achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration.

The council, which comprises of heads of information desks at the local government areas, representatives of the Ministry of Information, among other stakeholders, has the Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Hon. Evang. Kingsley Fanwo as the Chairman.

The council was inaugurated at the Conference hall of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) on Friday.

Charging the information officers to disseminate the right information, the SSG, Dr (Mrs) Folasade Ayoade, urged the members to ā€œLet everything we have achieved go viralā€, adding that the state government’s strides were under-reported.

ā€œWhat we have achieved is still within us and we need to let the world know what we have achieved; and that’s why we’re information officersā€, she said.

Speaking on behalf of the council, the chairman of the council, Hon. Fanwo appreciated Governor Yahaya Bello for the confidence reposed in the council, assuring that the members will not disappoint in their assignment.

He urge local councils chairmen, as third tier of government at the grassroots,
to ensure that they adequately fund the local government area information desks to enable information officers to discharge their professional duties.
