Presidential aspirant in 2023 on the platform of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore has stormed the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nigeria Police Force, demanding for details of reported charges against him bordering on “criminal defamation” of a Nigerian billionaire, Prince Ned Nwoko, as allegedly filed by the Nigerian Police Force.
The Convener of the #RevolutionNow Movement in a statement made available to The Street Reporters Newspaper, Sowore that “Following the despicable police conduct that led to the arrest and unjust attacks imprisonment of one my attorneys, Marshal Abubakar last Friday, today, I reached out to the Commander of the CID Unit of FCT Police to request him to provide me with information regarding the alleged charges the police claimed they filed against me accusing me of “criminal defamation” of a so called Billionairë, Ned Nwoko.
“In particular, I sent the commander a request asking for details and copies of the charges, the court where the charges were filed and the date of arraignment if any, the Commander is yet to respond to my request.
“I will be heading to the police SARS unit to see the Commander to obtain charges they claimed were filed against me at 11 am”, Sowore said.
The former AAC presidential in 2019 noted that journalists and the public are welcome to be at FCT Command, CID Unit popularly known as “Abbatoir” at Guzape-Apo area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
He added, “So far, They’ve refused to provide copies of the charges or the court where in it was filed since morning.
“I have repeatedly told the public that the arrest of my lawyer Marshal Abubakar was not because I “jumped bail” as being alleged by the police but because they felt he embarrassed them by filing a lawsuit against the police and the so-called Billionaire, Ned Nwoko.
“Ned Nwoko is only acting Buhari’s regime script through the AGF, Abubakar Malami to frame me with further frivolous charges because the treasonable felony charge has practically fallen apart and my recent popular declaration for the Presidency they had wanted to stop by arresting me and harassing me with the police had become a major source of worry to them”, Sowore stated.
