President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met with founding fathers of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the state house, in Abuja, even as the party has released the programme of events for its national convention.

While details of the meeting that held between the President and the founders of his party are yet to be made public, pondits speculates that at the centre of the deliberations borders on the party’s national convention on Saturday.

Those at the meeting included Presidential aspirant, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari; Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai; Yobe Governor, Mai Mala Buni, former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, among others.

In another development, the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan had earlier announced that the APC has agreed to produce consensus candidates and the party is expected to put out a ‘Unity List’ by Friday ahead of the national convention.

Lawan stated this after the National Assembly caucus leaders met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House on Thursday.

“We hope to achieve a consensus in selecting and electing the officers for the party, we are prepared to come up with a unity list,” he said.

Meanwhile, the APC has announced the schedule activities for its national convention as the released the programme of events confirmed that the convention holds on Saturday, March 26, 2022.

The convention will hold at the Eagle Square in Abuja.
