Cross River Governor-elect, Bassey Otu Receives Certificate of Return, Speaks On Fulfilling Campaign Promises

The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) in Cross River State has issued a certificate of return to the Cross River State Governor-elect, Senator Prince Bassey Otu and his Deputy, Rt Hon Peter Odey.

Also issued certificate of return were members-elect of the state House of Assembly.

INEC had declared Prince Otu as the winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state.

He contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled a total of 258,619 votes to defeat his closest rival, the the PDP candidate, Senator Sandy Onor, who polled 179,636 votes.

The Labour Party candidate in the election, Ogar Osim, got 5957 votes.

The presentation of certificate of return witnessed mass gatherings from party stakeholders and well-wishers at the event which took place at the INEC headquarters in Calabar.

Speaking after receiving his certificate of return, the Governor-elect, Prince Bassey Otu, promised to do his best to keep all the promises he made during his campaign, saying, “We thank you for finding us worthy to steer the affairs of the state in the next four years to come, I assure you that we will do our best to ensure that we fulfil all of our campaign promises”.

“I want to tell you that we’ve accepted the mandate you gave to us, however, I want to urge you to be watchful over us by encouraging us where we do right and drawing our attention where we go astray,” Prince Otu said.
