APC Chieftain Prays For New Cross River Governor, Decries Resort To Self-help In Ayade Administration

A political activist and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Obi Ojage has congratulated Prince Bassey Otu as he take the oath of office today as the Executive Governor of Cross River State.

Comrade Ojage decried how people in the outgoing administration of Governor Ben Ayade easily resorted to what he described as “self-help” to block others, praying to God to give the new Governor of the state “the firmness of heart to do the needful.”

The sharp-witted communicator and social media influencer spoke in a post he shared on Sunday night.

The post titled “No Doubt People Resort To Self-help Especially In The Outgoing Administration To Block Others”, reads:

Cross River State has never had it this bad where all decisions emanate from just one man with no contribution from nowhere.

He decides who to go where and who got what and when, with no input from no one but him. If he hates you even if you merit a thing he does not look your way.

How can one man claim to know everything? The executive committee does not exist in the real sense and there are no meaningful consultations, since there is selectivity, all because most of the appointees see themselves as being favoured not on merit because their input doesn’t matter.

There is no variety. Everything seems the same. Those in appointments seem to act and talk the same.

That’s why the state has become so dirty both inside and outside of it. We believe the incoming Governor, Prince Bassey Otu will endeavour to clean up the mess beginning with the cleanliness of the Capital city, Calabar.

No one has witnessed the kind of dirt we find in the capital city before as this. Calabar must gain back its flavour and sanitation.

We are not villagers who are said to control humongous bank accounts but exhibit village mentality.

It is incredulous how desperate some people are, where they all want everything in sight as if they alone exist.

In Cross River State, it is usually only those who happened to have been lucky to be favoured once with a political position that always feels that it is only they who should be favoured in everything or every political position available. That can’t be. There must be a change.

We hear that about four or more people are fighting to be made cabinet ministers from my state of Cross River while three are fighting against their benefactor.

But the new administration if at all, would be making a grievous mistake to appoint individual persons on their recognition without the recommendation of the elected governor of the state from which they hail. Why?

It will breed disloyalty and insubordination.

I want to be a cabinet minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as well, the Lord willing.

It doesn’t take sycophancy or relationship to one’s father or the president, for one to be made a Minister. It requires commitment, uprightness, chance and capacity. Let’s see how it goes.
