HRM Eze-Igwe Williams Ezugwu Commends Governor Mbah On Successful Flag-off of Dualization of Ugwogo-Opi Nsukka Road
In a significant development for the people of Nsukka in Enugu State, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Eze-Igwe Williams Ezugwu, the Eze Ogbozarra III, and the Igwe of Ibagwa Opi Autonomous Community in Opi Ancient Kingdom of Nsukka Local Government Area, has lauded the state Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for officially flagging off the dualization of the Abakpa-Ugwogo-Opi Nsukka Road.
The royal father noted that the project, inaugurated on Monday, October 28, 2024, marks a major milestone in the Governor’s commitment to infrastructural development and the fulfillment of his election promises to the people of Nsukka zone.
In a statement personally signed by him, Eze-Igwe Williams Ezugwu expressed profound gratitude to Governor Mbah, highlighting the importance of the project for the region. “The dualization of this critical road will not only enhance connectivity and ease transportation but also stimulate economic activities and development in the entire senatorial district,” he stated.
He added that the project is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve safety for commuters, thereby boosting the local economy.
Governor Mbah’s administration has been proactive in initiating and executing numerous projects aimed at transforming Enugu State.
Among these are the dualization of the Penoks-Abakpa Nike-Opi-Nsukka Road, a 43.7 km project that includes streetlights to enhance safety and reduce travel time. Additionally, the administration is currently overseeing over 1,000 landmark projects, encompassing infrastructure development, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions.
According to the monarch, one of the notable initiatives under Governor Mbah’s leadership is the recruitment of 15,000 smart school teachers and skilled workers, aimed at bolstering the state’s educational system.
Furthermore, he recalled that at the inaugural State Investment and Economic Growth Stakeholder Roundtable, Governor Mbah had unveiled a pipeline of 30 projects worth over ₦1.6 trillion ($2.1 billion), including the Enugu State Integrated Sector-Based Productivity Growth Strategy.
HRM Eze-Igwe Williams Ezugwu then called upon all well-meaning sons and daughters of Nsukka, both at home and in the diaspora, to continue supporting Governor Mbah’s administration. “It is through collective effort and unwavering support that the path of good governance and the delivery of the dividends of democracy can be sustained for the benefit of all parts of Enugu State,” he emphasized.
He maintained that Governor’s focus on retooling and re-energizing the agriculture/agro-allied sector is also noteworthy, as it aims to boost the economy and create job opportunities for the youth. “This comprehensive approach to governance and development has earned Governor Mbah widespread acclaim and support from various quarters”, he added.
The royal father reaffirmed his support for Governor Mbah’s administration, urging the people of Enugu State to remain united in their efforts to achieve a prosperous and developed state.
“Governor Mbah’s dedication to infrastructural development and the overall progress of Enugu State is commendable. We must all rally behind his vision for a better future as he has proven himself as a man of the people and Governor for all without discriminations,” the traditional ruler concluded.
