Real Madrid is reportedly preparing to make a second bid for Liverpool’s star right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, after their initial offer was rejected. The Spanish giants are eager to bolster their defensive options following a series of injuries that have left them short at the back.
The club’s interest in the 26-year-old defender is driven by manager Carlo Ancelotti, who sees Alexander-Arnold as a perfect fit for his tactical setup.
With Dani Carvajal’s season-ending ACL injury and the absence of Eder Militao, Real Madrid is desperate to find a reliable right-back to shore up their defense.
According to sources, Real Madrid is willing to offer up to £20 million for Alexander-Arnold’s services, despite the player’s contract with Liverpool expiring in June 2025.
This figure is seen as a gesture of respect towards Liverpool, acknowledging the player’s value even though he could leave for free in six months.
However, Liverpool’s stance remains firm, with the club determined to keep their key players as they chase domestic and continental success.
The Reds have had a strong start to the season under manager Arne Slot, and Alexander-Arnold has been instrumental in their impressive performances.
The situation is further complicated by Alexander-Arnold’s own career considerations. Moving to Real Madrid would offer him the chance to join one of the most successful clubs in football history, with the promise of major trophies and glory.
However, staying at Liverpool would allow him to continue his journey with his boyhood club, where he has the potential to become a true icon and future captain.
As the January transfer window progresses, all eyes will be on Real Madrid and Liverpool to see if a deal can be struck.
The outcome of this transfer saga could have significant implications for both clubs’ seasons and Alexander-Arnold’s career trajectory.
Real Madrid is not the only club interested in Alexander-Arnold’s services.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Bayern Munich, and Juventus are also reportedly keen on signing the defender, making him one of the most sought-after players in the transfer market.
