The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, has commended Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR for his exemplary gesture in naming the newly commissioned road leading to Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, as “Willie Obiano Boulevard.”
The APGA National Chairman described the move as a symbolic act of unity, continuity, and deep appreciation—an acknowledgment of former Governor Willie Obiano’s bold strides in infrastructure development, especially in initiating and completing the construction of the airport and the International Convention Center (ICC), both of which remain enduring legacies in Anambra’s developmental history.
According to Barr. Ezeokenwa, “Governor Soludo has once again demonstrated what inspired leadership means. By honouring his predecessor with this renaming, he has sent a strong message of respect, political maturity, and the importance of building on the dreams of those who came before. This is what APGA represents—oneness, progress, and people-oriented governance.”
Highlighting the significance of the renamed boulevard, Ezeokenwa stated, “This is not just about a road. It is about creating a bridge of honour across generations. Naming the road after Chief Willie Obiano is comparable to what is obtainable in great democracies where past leaders are immortalized for their services to the people.”
The APGA National National Chairman further praised Governor Soludo for his balanced developmental approach across Anambra State, particularly his attention to neglected areas in the North and riverine communities, showing that his agenda of “One State, One People, One Agenda” is not just a mantra, but a lived reality.
“Today, history has been made,” Barr. Ezeokenwa said. “The Chinua Achebe International Airport Road, now known as Willie Obiano Boulevard, will forever remain a monument to the vision, continuity, and shared commitment of APGA leaders to the growth of Anambra State.”
The APGA National Chairman concluded by urging leaders at all levels to emulate Governor Soludo’s example in governance—leading with wisdom, honouring legacy, and pursuing inclusive development that leaves no one behind.
