A political advocacy group, the Progressive Next Generation Initiative (PNGI), has endorsed the senatorial aspiration of Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama for Edo South ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing his track record in public service and leadership.
In a statement released on March 4, 2026, and signed by its Convener, Jeffery Omoh Ozemegwa, the group described the former federal lawmaker as a credible and forward-looking leader capable of providing effective representation at the National Assembly.
Ogbeide-Ihama, an engineer and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), previously represented Oredo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2023. During his tenure, PNGI noted, he distinguished himself through active legislative contributions and constituency-focused initiatives.
The group highlighted his leadership role as Chairman of the House Committee on Culture and Tourism, alongside his participation in several other committees, including Environment and Habitat, Waterways, Power, Basic Education, Housing, and Public Petitions. According to the statement, these engagements underscored his commitment to national development and governance.
PNGI also pointed to his current role as Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, where it said he has demonstrated strategic capacity and administrative competence.
Beyond public office, the group commended Ogbeide-Ihama’s grassroots impact through his foundation, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment, skills development, and medical outreach programmes across Edo State and beyond.
Describing him as a dependable figure in nation-building, PNGI praised his resilience and dedication to Nigeria’s progress, adding that his leadership style aligns with the aspirations of younger generations seeking inclusive governance.
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting political awareness, accountability, and citizen participation within the APC, noting that it operates as a data-driven advocacy platform focused on strengthening democratic values.
Expressing optimism about his prospects, PNGI stated that Ogbeide-Ihama’s experience and performance place him in a strong position to secure the party’s ticket for the Edo South Senatorial District.
“As the country moves toward another crucial electoral cycle, we remain committed to transparency, accountability, and participatory governance,” the statement said, while wishing the aspirant success in the party’s screening process.
