The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, CON, has approved the appointment of three prominent professionals — Sani Takori, VinMartin Obiora Ilo and Steve Nwosu — to strategic positions within his political and administrative structure.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, designate Takori as Political Adviser, Ilo as Chief Technical Adviser (CTA), and Nwosu as Spokesperson.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued by the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, Esq., who said the decision was aimed at strengthening the operations, administration and strategic communication surrounding Senator Dickson both as National Leader of the NDC and as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
According to the statement, the appointments are part of efforts to consolidate the political and organisational structures of the NDC as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Osa Director described Ilo and Nwosu as accomplished professionals with established records of professionalism, credibility and integrity, while he characterised Takori as a tested public administrator and politician with extensive experience in governance, law and party organisation.
Takori Brings Extensive Political, Legal Experience
Takori, a lawyer and politician from Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, has held several senior public positions throughout his career.
His professional journey began in the former Sokoto State, where he served in different capacities before becoming Registrar, Magistrate, Solicitor-General and later Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Zamfara State.
He is an alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies. Between 2003 and 2007, he represented his constituency in the House of Representatives.
The statement said Takori subsequently secured his party’s senatorial ticket on four occasions but voluntarily stepped aside in favour of candidates who eventually won the elections on the party’s platform.
A former local government chairman, Takori also served as National Legal Adviser to the Council of Ulamas and Chief Legal Officer of the Nigerian Electoral Commission.
He was Secretary of the Yarima Presidential Campaign in both 2003 and 2007 and contested the 2019 Zamfara State governorship election as the candidate of the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA).
Takori is also a founding member of the NDC and served as the party’s Protem National Secretary during its registration as a political party.
Ilo Takes Charge As Chief Technical Adviser
The new Chief Technical Adviser, VinMartin Obiora Ilo, brings nearly four decades of experience spanning journalism, broadcasting, public service, strategic communication, development consultancy and international relations.
Ilo is an alumnus of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He studied Mass Communication at the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, and holds a Master of Science degree in Development Studies from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, as well as a master’s degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Lagos State University.
He began his broadcasting career with Radio Nigeria, where he rose to become a Network Newscaster, before joining Africa Independent Television (AIT).
At AIT, he eventually retired in 2013 as Director of Special Duties and South-East Operations.
Ilo also served as Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Enugu State and was a member of the Governing Board of the National Broadcasting Commission.
Until his latest appointment, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Signature TV. He is from Enugu State.
Nwosu To Lead Strategic Communication
Steve Nwosu, a long-standing associate of Senator Dickson, has been appointed Spokesperson, bringing more than three decades of experience in journalism, media administration, consultancy and political communication.
Nwosu has worked across print, broadcasting and digital media and is widely known for his syndicated satirical column, FrankTalk.
A graduate of the University of Nigeria and Lagos Business School, he began a distinguished career in newspaper journalism, holding several editorial positions at The Guardian and ThisDay newspapers.
His roles included Features Editor, Political Editor and Editor of ThisDayStyle, before becoming Editor of ThisDay on Saturday.
He joined The Sun newspapers at its inception as pioneer Editor of Saturday Sun and subsequently rose through the ranks to become Editor of Daily Sun, Executive Director, Corporate Services, and Deputy Managing Director and Deputy Editor-in-Chief.
Nwosu later established The Nigerian Xpress Newspaper and also had a brief stint with Plus TV Africa as Controller of News.
He currently serves as Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Edibofa Communication and Publishing Limited, owners of People’s FM 105.5 Abuja, People’s FM 93.1 Yenagoa, Universal Television Africa and The Nigerian Xpress Newspaper.
The Imo State-born journalist also served for eight years on the Standing Committee of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, first representing the West Zone and later serving as Treasurer.
The NDC said the responsibilities of the three appointees would cover Senator Dickson’s engagements both in his capacity as National Leader of the party and as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The appointments come as political parties and their key actors intensify preparations, mobilisation and strategic positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
