BENDE, ABIA STATE — Labour Party candidate for the Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chimaobi Anyaso, popularly known as OFUJI, has formally flagged off his campaign for the 2027 House of Representatives election, promising to pursue a people-centred representation anchored on service, accountability and inclusive development.
Addressing Ndi Bende on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, during the campaign launch, Anyaso said his aspiration was not driven by personal ambition but by a broader commitment to the future of Bende and its people.
“This journey is bigger than Chima Anyaso. It is bigger than one political party. It is bigger than one election. This journey is about Bende. It is about our children and the future we will leave for them,” he said.
The Labour Party candidate said his vision for Bende was founded on confidence in the people and communities of the federal constituency, stressing that leadership must be defined by service, responsibility, compassion and accountability.
“Leadership is not a title. Leadership is service. It is responsibility. It is compassion. It is the willingness to use whatever God has placed in your hands to improve the lives of others,” Anyaso stated.
He pledged to make his proposed representation accessible and responsive to constituents while ensuring that public resources and government opportunities deliver tangible benefits to the people.
According to him, his legislative agenda would focus on youth development, agriculture, education, enterprise development, healthcare, community development and empowerment.
Anyaso also promised to conduct an issue-driven and peaceful campaign, rejecting attempts to use political competition to create divisions among the people of Bende.
“We will not turn brothers against brothers because of politics. Election will come and go. Political positions will come and go, but Bende will remain,” he said.
He urged his supporters to campaign with humility, confidence and respect for opponents, traditional rulers, elders and other stakeholders, saying the OFUJI Movement would present its vision and record for the electorate to assess.
OFUJI further pointed to his previous interventions in education, healthcare, youth development, humanitarian assistance and community support as evidence that his commitment to public service predates his political ambition.
“I have never believed that a person must first occupy political office before serving his people,” he said.
Seeking the mandate of Ndi Bende to represent the constituency at the National Assembly, Anyaso pledged to attract opportunities, support communities and create pathways for young people to thrive.
While acknowledging that no leader could promise perfection, he assured the electorate that he would remain accessible and accountable to the people.
“I will work, I will listen, I will be accessible, I will be accountable, I will protect the trust you place in me, and by the special grace of Almighty God, I will not disappoint Ndi Bende,” he declared.
He disclosed that the campaign would extend across communities, wards and families, with the team engaging directly with residents to listen to their concerns and explain the vision of the OFUJI Movement.
Anyaso also challenged the youth of Bende to see themselves not merely as beneficiaries of government programmes but as entrepreneurs, innovators and future leaders capable of contributing significantly to the development of the constituency and Nigeria.
He sought the prayers, support and guidance of traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, elders and other community stakeholders, describing their involvement as essential to building a united and prosperous Bende.
Declaring the campaign officially open, Anyaso said the movement would begin its journey without bitterness or hatred.
“Today, the journey begins. We begin with no hatred in our hearts. We begin with faith. We begin with hope. We begin with courage. We begin with love for our people. And above all, we begin with the people,” he said.
He concluded with a direct appeal to the people of Bende, declaring his readiness for the contest and expressing confidence in the capacity of the OFUJI Movement to secure their support.
“Ndi Bende, I am ready. The OFUJI Movement is ready. And I believe Bende is ready,” he said.
The candidate thereafter offered prayers for Bende, the Labour Party, the OFUJI Campaign Team, Abia State and Nigeria, while expressing appreciation to his family for their support throughout his public service and political journey.
