….As Candidate Pledges To Mobilise Youths, Support Obi/Kwankwaso Ticket Ahead Of 2027 Poll
KADUNA, NIGERIA — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed Hon. Yunusa Muhammad Salisu, popularly known as YMS Kawo, as the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Kawo Constituency seat in the Kaduna State House of Assembly in the 2027 general elections.
The development followed the publication of successfully nominated candidates for the 2027 Governorship and State House of Assembly elections, which the candidate described as a major milestone in his political journey.
In a statement addressed to constituents, NDC supporters, party members and Nigerians, Salisu expressed appreciation to God, his supporters and party stakeholders for the opportunity to contest the election under the platform of the NDC.
“Alhamdulillah, my name was officially published as the NDC candidate for Member, Kaduna State House of Assembly, Kawo Constituency,” he stated, describing the nomination as an honour and a responsibility to carry the party’s message of “Service to the People.”
The candidate’s claim is further reflected in an INEC affidavit bearing his name and identifying the office contested as the State House of Assembly, with Kawo listed as the constituency and Nigeria Democratic Congress as his political party.
The affidavit, titled “Affidavit in support of particulars of persons seeking Election”, contains Salisu’s declaration that he is seeking election into the State House of Assembly in Kawo Constituency.
According to the document, Salisu was born in Kaduna on November 3, 1997, and was listed as a businessman. The document also carries an NDC membership number and an INEC identification section for the 2027 State House of Assembly election.
Reacting to his emergence, Salisu appealed to his fellow contestants to close ranks, stressing that the larger objective should take precedence over individual ambitions.
“To my fellow contestants, I want to assure you that we are all together in this journey. There is no winner and no vanquished — we are all winners,” he said.
He added that the collective objective was to support the Obi/Kwankwaso ticket and work towards what he described as a better Nigeria.
Salisu also singled out the youths of Kawo Constituency, urging them to seize what he described as a “golden opportunity” to participate actively in the political process ahead of the 2027 elections.
“To the youths of Kawo Constituency, this is our golden opportunity. Let us come together, unite, mobilize, and turn this opportunity into reality. The time for action is now,” he declared.
The NDC candidate expressed gratitude to his family, supporters, friends, party leaders, stakeholders and others who, according to him, had believed in his political journey.
The development is expected to intensify political mobilisation in Kawo Constituency as parties and their candidates begin preparations for the 2027 State House of Assembly contest.
Salisu ended his message with a call for collective commitment, declaring: “Together, we shall make a difference.”
He also reaffirmed his campaign slogans: “Youth O’Clock,” “Tafiyar Matas’a,” “Service to the People,” “Kawo Shall Prosper” and “Nigeria Will Be OK!”
“Alhamdulillah! The journey has begun,” he declared.
