‘Deliver Campaign Promises, Stop Acting Like Opposition’
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to deliver the change it promised Nigerians, rather than continuing to act as opposition party.
The PDP’s Publicity Secretary in Ondo State, Banji Okunomo stated this while reacting to APC’s demand that former President Goodluck Jonathan should apologise to Nigerians for “bad governance and leadership” while in office.
The spokesman on Sunday, therefore, advised the APC to stop acting like an opposition party and start delivering its enormous campaign promises to Nigerians.
Okunomo said the APC government was “taking Nigerians for granted”, as evident in its “slow approach”.
“They do not know that Nigerians are already losing their patience to see the promised change which they used in cajoling Nigerians into electing them into power.
“From its inception, the APC has been showing that it is not ready for governance as it cannot even put its house in order.
“So, for the period they were in the opposition, in
a way, their mentality or psyche has been
assaulted, and that is why they keep behaving
like an opposition party.
“We want to see them manifest their many
campaign promises,” he added.
The Ondo APC, had through its Publicity Secretary,
Omo’ba Adesanya said Jonathan and the PDP brought Nigeria “into disrepute, domestic and international odium, economic crisis, insecurity, unemployment, unprecedented corruption, abuse of state apparatus, infrastructural decadence and poverty”.
A statement he issued at the weekend said instead of being remorseful and apologetic, the PDP, through its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, had been making defenceless excuses and arguments.
Replying those accusing President Muhammadu
Buhari of being slow, APC noted that “You
cannot hit the ground running without carefully
observing and removing the entire banana peels
littering the ground to avoid a dangerous crah.
