BREAKING: Two New COVID19 Cases Test Negative in Enugu

Two more COVID-19 confirmed cases in Enugu State have test negative as the state records one positive case with travel history, in violation of inter-state transportation ban

The Enugu State Ministry of Health announced in a statement on Wednesday morning that 2 more active COVID-19 cases undergoing treatment in Enugu State have tested negative and are being assessed for discharge from the isolation and treatment centre.

The statement signed by the State Commissioner for Health, Obi Emmanuel Ikechukwu noted “However, we have 1 new positive case.

“Consequently, the total number of cases for Enugu State is now 16 cases, with 8 active cases and 8 discharged cases.

”The two cases that have become negative are case number 3 and her son who is case number 10.

”The new positive case (case 16) is a 39 year old indigene of Enugu State who lives in Lagos State. He made his way to Enugu State in violation of the restriction order and arrived on the 13th of May, 2020.

”On an alert, since he was already ill, he was assessed and tested. The result has returned positive.

”Consequently, the need to comply with the inter-state movement restriction order and other precautionary measures for the containment of the spread of COVID-19 cannot be overemphasized.

”Enugu State inhabitants are therefore still encouraged to continue to comply with the directives of the Federal and Enugu State governments on restriction orders and other precautionary measures in the public health advisory of the Federal Ministry of Health, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), and the Enugu State Ministry of Health”, the commissioner said.

The state however urged residents never to be tired of complying with the stay at home advisory ”when it is not necessary to go out.

“Wear a facemask/covering whenever you must go out.

“Keep a safe distance from other people at all times, which is social/physical distancing and avoid crowded places.

“Practice good respiratory hygiene (when coughing or sneezing). Clean surfaces with a 1 in 6 concentration of bleach and water.

“Wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds under running water as often as possible.
And when facilities for hand washing are unavailable, sanitize your hands as often as possible using an alcohol based hand sanitizer

“When You do these, you protect me, and when I do these, I protect you. Stay safe”, the government counselled.
