New ALGON National President Hon Aminu Maifata Mu’azu Congratulates Christians At Easter

The new National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon Aminu Mu’azu Maifata, has conveyed the good wishes of the National Executive Council, the Board of Trustees, Management and staff for the symbolic celebration.

This was contained in a statement personally signed from his Lafia home, the Nasarawa state capital during this morning get together with some guests.

He recalled that given the huge demographics and place of christianity in advancing the course of faith, unity, love and peace dating back nearly 2,000 years ago, it is only fair and just to salute all Christian families that are engaging in this festivities.

Easter according to him, “no doubt symbolizes the resurrection of Jesus Christ and is a time that call for deep reflection, renewal, and joyous celebration,” hence in his words “I am particularly glad to extend this regards’ said the new ALGON National President.

He went further to note that “The coincidence of both Christian and Muslim fasting and ahead of Muslims feast of Ei-del Fitri which will mark the end of Ramadan in few days away, go a long way to validate the need for shared love for God and the essence of prayer, and almsgiving for both faith which are all vital ingredients for both our national and spiritual good”

He further stated that Easter therefore, no doubt brings a wave of good wishes, uniting friends, families, and communities in a shared spirit of hope and rebirth as being witnessed across the country. Our rural populace at the 774 and area councils in Nigeria are hereby congratulated on this auspicious day, may this years memorial reinforce the bonds of being our brothers keeper with profound expression of heartfelt sentiments and practical demonstration of such especially in this era of hunger, insecurity, and dysfunctional local government system which is part of reasons we all must endeavor to make sacrifices; bearing in mind to work together to better the situation within the ambit of law and civic responsibility.

“I call on the local people our constituents at the LGAs and Councils, to support the new ALGON under my watch to promote, engage and provoke advocacy and critical sensitization for strengthening the LGAs especially as the next Constitution amendment is insight to escalate our position for positive results.

Let us all unite as brothers, Christians and Muslims to advance all those issues affecting us, while we all reflect on those common themes of hope, resurrection, and the promise of new beginnings, resonating deeply with the spiritual significance of this Easter. It may interest us to know that we all have our local government system as the one closest to the people, we share one market, buy from one filling station, one moto park and need to support each other without tribal or religion leanings in the call for strengthening the councils for development and progressive growth.

ALGON shall continue to connect responsibly with the Tiers and Arms of Government as well as civil society, Media, the security agencies and other critical stakeholders to ensure that we strengthen our concerns in the national space for justice to be served.
