Delta State Government Assures Merit-Based Admission into Nursing Colleges
The Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, has reassured prospective nursing students that admission into the state’s colleges of nursing sciences will be based solely on merit. This comes after reports of fraudulent activities by individuals claiming to offer admission to unsuspecting students.
In a statement released over the weekend, Dr. Onojaeme warned prospective students to be cautious of individuals like Barrister Barry, who has been collecting money from people with promises of securing admission into the 2024/2025 academic session. The commissioner emphasized that Barrister Barry is not a staff member of the ministry or any of the colleges and has no authority to offer admission.
The statement further cautioned parents, prospective students, and the general public against dealing with individuals claiming to be agents of the ministry, colleges, or government officials. Such individuals, the commissioner warned, will face the full wrath of the law if caught.
Dr. Onojaeme reiterated that admissions into the state’s colleges of nursing sciences will be strictly merit-based, and only candidates who meet the cut-off mark will be granted admission. He advised candidates who have purchased common entrance forms to prepare thoroughly for the exams, as only those who meet the required standards will be considered for admission.
This assurance from the Delta State Government is a welcome development, as it ensures that the admission process is transparent, fair, and based on merit. Prospective students are urged to ignore fraudulent individuals and focus on preparing for the exams to secure their admission into the nursing colleges.
