Following the successful end of the Lenten season by Christians across the Country, the National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON). Hon. Kolade David Alabi has congratulated all faithful.
Speaking through his media office in Abuja, Hon. Alabi specifically made close reference to the Bible in Psalm 30:5 which says, “Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning. He said that the ‘Cross’ experience of the past 40 days characterized by three pillars of Fasting, Prayer and Alms Giving initiated by Christ over 2000 years ago has led to defeat and assured results of freedom, peace breakthroughs, and new life.
Hon. Alabi in a mix of solemn and emotionally laden mood urged Christians to die with Christ by giving up or burying all their worries, challenges, and difficulties, especially at the rural level with the confidence of a whole new life in Christ through the reason of his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
He acknowledged that for being part of a system of government that is local which constitutes a greater majority of the Nigerian population pool; the third Tier, there is direct knowledge of all their feelings and difficulties which can only be addressed with political will, good leadership, strong institutions, legislation in an atmosphere of peace and unity.
The ALGON National President called for total support of local governments and Area Councils by State and Federal governments to achieve all their constitutional responsibility.
