Work has commenced at the new site of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital at Igbo-Eno.
Already, setting out, all necessary Engineering Design parameters and Geotechnical analysis have been carried out. Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure Engr. Sir Greg Nnaji,FNSE, who announced these while conducting press crew round the project site described it as a modern State of the art hospital.
“It will serve as a Teaching Hospital among other buildings in the masterplan at Igbo-Eno,which includes: College of Medicine, College of Dentistry, College of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Health and Technology, Faculty of Applied Natural Sciences. Such other related faculties as the Senate of the University will determine from time to time. Residential quarters for Doctors and Nurses among other structures befitting of a modern teaching hospital”, he said.
Commissioner Nnaji explained that commencement of work on the project followed an enactment of law by Enugu State House of Assembly amending the Enugu State University of Science and Technology law cap 74 revised law of Enugu State 2014 to return to Multi-Campus a year ago.
“Consequently, the State Executive Council has approved the construction of the Teaching Hospital and the contract was awarded to HENArC Associates Limited,” Engr. Nnaji said.
He stated that the contractor for the Teaching Hospital had since mobilized to site, and the setting out road corridors using differential GPS System to locate other structures also, has commenced.
The Commissioner stated that the project was part of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s efforts to provide Public Health Infrastructure to improve the lives of the people of Enugu State.
He said that he had posted a team of engineers and architects among others to supervise the project.
The Managing Director of HENARC Associates Limited, Arc Henry Arinze, MNIA, Commends His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for giving his company the opportunity to execute the project and promised to work in accordance with the technical and engineering specifications.
He prayed for God’s divine health and wisdom upon the Governor as he steered the wheel of Enugu State Government.
Highlight of the occasion was the signing of the contract documents Honourable Commissioner, Engr. Sir Greg Nnaji, FNSE and the Managing Director of HENARC Associates Limited, Arc.Henry Arinze, MNIA.
The Commissioner was accompanied by Head of Mechanical Department,Engr Henry Edeh, Chief Engr Anyaora Okereke, Head of Architectural Department, Arc. Chinedu Eke, Head of Planning and Design, Engr. Uzo Uzochukwu, Head of Quantity Surveying, Mrs Philonmina Didiugwu, Head of Department, Planning and Statistics,Alex Oguegbe, Technical Adviser to the commissioner on works, Engr. Aka Geoffrey and Head of Administration and Supply,Mr Thomas Itanyi, among others.
